WANNA KNOW A SECRET?

I used to hate to be on camera. Like LOATHED it. More on that in a minute but first let me give you a little backstory.

WELCOME TO HOLLYWOOD

My background is in TV as producer, director and writer.

I’ve worked in documentaries, digital and unscripted TV - (code for reality TV). I’ve probably worked on some of your favorite (or fav to hate!) reality shows.

I’ve also worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood as well as people who had never stepped in front of the camera in their life.

Not gonna lie, the excitement of traveling around the world, the pride of seeing my name on TV screens, and the rush I would get when calling ACTION! on set - it was all I ever wanted as a kid from the suburbs of Chicago.

I loved every minute of it.

GET READY TO WORK 24/7

But like most Hollywood stories, there’s a lot going on behind the scenes.

About 7 years into my career, I started to notice cracks in my life.

My schedule looked like a Jenga puzzle; ready to crash at any moment.

My life was heavily dominated by work with little time for maintaining friendships and relationships.

It felt like chunks of my life were missing from being MIA so much.

I was taking jobs that I didn’t love out of fear of not knowing when the next one would come along.

THE SPARK WAS FADING

Right before I hit my 30’s I somehow lost my mojo.

I was moving up the ladder but with each step I took, I became more and more exhausted.

The hours were taking a toll on me and the thought of keeping up with that pace as I got older freaked me out.

So I decided to make a change.

But what? What could I do?

Turns out running a TV show and running a business…pretty similar. Like, ridiculously similar.

BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD

I went back to school and became a certified business coach.

My plan was to utilize my 15+ years of experience in working in TV to help others focus and follow through on their projects and businesses.

And for a while, it went great!

But clients would always ask me about my video background which tbh, I avoided sharing

I HATE BEING ON CAMERA

Ok, here’s the secret. I HATED being on camera.

It felt uncomfortable, I never knew what to say and I didn’t feel like I was “camera material”.

My job in TV was always behind the camera. That felt comfortable to me.

But because of my background, I knew what a powerful tool video could be for connecting with my audience so I sucked it up and got on camera.

Over time I’ve learned to love it!

GIVE 'EM WHAT THEY WANT

Turns out, that’s what my clients wanted to learn too.

After helping them focus and follow through on their projects and goals for their business, visibility became the next natural step.

So I shifted my business to incorporate teaching video and camera confidence.
